The following definitions can be found in the China GB19854-2005 standard or

 Zone 1:

A place in which an explosive atmosphere consisting of a mixture with air of flammable substances

in the form of gas, vapour or mist is likely to occur in normal operation occasionally.

 Zone 2:

A place in which an explosive atmosphere consisting of a mixture with air of flammable substances

in the form of gas, vapour or mist is unlikely to occur in normal operation but if it does occur will

persist for a short period only.

Zone 21:

A place in which an explosive atmosphere in the form of a cloud of combustible dust in air is likely

to occur in normal operation occasionally.

 Zone 22:

A place in which an explosive atmosphere in the form of a cloud of combustible dust in air is not

likely to occur in normal operation but if it does occur will persist for a short period only.

Definitions for Zone 0 and Zone 20 are not shown as forklift trucks would not be allowed to operate

in such areas.

All trucks will be supplied to be suitable for Gas groups IIA and IIB and with temperature limitation to

Class T.3 200 degrees C unless otherwise specified.

 Temperature Class:

T1:  Maximum surface temperature 450 degrees C

T2:  Maximum surface temperature 300 degrees C

T3:  Maximum surface temperature 200 degrees C

T4:  Maximum surface temperature 135 degrees C

T5:  Maximum surface temperature 100 degrees C

Note only material rated T5 is Carbon disulphide. T6 (85 degrees C is not applicable).

 Gas Groups:

IIA Surface industry, representative gas Propane and Acetone

IIB Surface industry, representative gas Ethylene

IIC Surface industry, representative gas hydrogen

Further information on the flashpoint, vapour density, flammability range, auto-ignition temperature and

gas group of materials can be found in the relevant sections of Chinese standard GB3836
